LPN Admissions

Admission Requirements

For admission into the LPN Program, applicants are required to:
  • have a high-school diploma or equivalent
  • be 18 years of age or older
  • achieve an acceptable score on a Pre-Entrance Exam*
  • pass a drug/alcohol screen
  • pass a state/federal criminal background check
  • provide work and/or personal references
  • be in good physical and mental health
  • be immunized for Hepatitis B and Tetanus**
  • have a current Tuberculin skin test**

Applicants are responsible for costs associated with these admission requirements.  It will be necessary to meet with representatives from our LPN faculty during the admission process.  Contact our LPN department as early as possible to get prepared to enter next year's class.

 * The LPN program uses the TEAS exam (the Test of Essential Academic Skills) for pre-entrance testing.  TEAS measures your basic academic skills in reading, mathematics, science, and English language usage.  It is intended for use in adult nursing programs.  The TEAS test is administered by our AE Department.  This is not a walk-in exam, you must call 304-528-5106 to schedule.

** Other vaccinations may be required, based on individual Immunization records.  Immunizations and Tuberculin skin testing are available at the Cabell-Huntington Health Department.  Refer to their monthly Clinic schedule.
